Caroline Ang

Techie and Gadget Girl

Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Biography

As a young girl Caroline dreamed of big mountains and wilderness. Not so remarkable unless you consider that in her native Singapore, neither of these exist. Inspired by National Geographic magazines, this 'tom boy' began to realize her dreams on a jet traveling to Calgary in 1996 to attend university.

Her enthusiasm for being 'out there' lead her to participating with other international students on hiking and camping trips into the western Rockies and National Parks. Also trying her hand at paddling a canoe in northern Manitoba. Enthusiastically she continues develop her experience in the Canadian wilderness by taking up backcountry skiing and alpine mountaineering. She also challenges herself through competing in new activities such as the Worlds Master Cross Country Ski Championships in Idaho in 2007.

A good deal of Caroline's free time is taken up in her pursuit of triathlon and Ironman athletic goals. Her fierce determination and ability to just have a good time over a 14-hour competition makes the many hours of running, cycling, and swimming worthwhile.

A natural photographer, she is equally adept in capturing the moments of people and place in big cities such as New York as she is in small villages of Nepal.

When not pursuing her passions, Caroline can be found at the University of Calgary where she is employed as an Applications Consultant.
